“Slut Techno” icon Miss Bashful discusses her creative approach and cultivating the Miss B mindset amidst the release of her new album with DBBD, ‘XOXO FM’. Born in Mexico City and raised in Texas, Miss Bashful’s latina roots are integral to the spice she infuses into Berlin’s techno scene, which has been her home since she was 19. Miss Bashful’s lyrics are daringly playful, empowering and always fiercely sex-positive, accompanied by high-energy techno basslines from the likes of DBBD, truly a feel-good combo for the “Sl*t G4nG”.

We speak to Miss Bashful about her craziest shows, her influences and a hint of what’s to come next. Miss Bashful imparts her golden rules for living it up Miss B style, whether you’re a trophy wife, blissfully fuckboy free or looking for your short king/sexy boy; we’re all tuning in to XOXO FM.

Your energy and sex appeal are infectious in the sense that your music is especially empowering and makes your fans feel truly sexy and confident. Do you have any influences you channel when you are feeling yourself and getting into the Miss Bashful zone?

Getting the balance of sexy, funny and outrageous right can be a fine line but one you balance very well, are there any one liners you could share which you wanted to use in your lyrics but missed the cut?

As well as the music itself, your incredible stage presence and iconic aesthetic also play into your popularity. Do you work with choreography or take a spontaneous approach to dancing when you perform?

When I was a Strippa I would always freestyle what came to mind so I did that for a while but for the new album XOXO FM my baby Patrick Sperl choreographed all the new songs for me, it was so funnnn

Do you have a favourite live show you’ve performed, where the energy has been really great and are there any locations you are especially excited to perform at, coming up?

Berlin always givessss – XOXO FM release party in Berlin, Poing Club in Rotterdam, La Maskarade show in Paris. Seattle, LA, NY, London and Munich have been the craziest. Most shows have been so lovely, shoutout to the Sl*t G4nG. I’m excited to tour the US with DBBD

As well as your music being sexy, it is undeniably comedic, sassy and exaggerated, how did you come to find the right collaborators for your very specific Slut Techno genre such as DBBD?

My ex and I were makin’ music and he dumped me and then the Universe brought me and DBBD together, it was destiny

Your music videos for XOXO FM, most notably for Trophy Wife are also fresh and playful, what was the process like working with Ladykub to produce these?

Trophy Wife is probably my favorite video we’ve done. We always throw ideas back and forth and then LadyKub brings the vision to life

Now that XOXO FM is out, do you have any thoughts for what’s next and are there any artists you dream about collaborating with?

I want to explore my Latina side and make music in Spanish with CRRDR. I would love to collab with La Goony Chonga and my all time queen is Miss Kittin
