Back after a two-year hiatus, Drew Davies returns with a tale of obsession and betrayal, taking the shape of glam-rock gothic anthem ‘La Revanche’. The single is pure cinema, with nostalgic production, screaming guitars, and powerful vocal lines that rip-roar through the choruses, whilst crooning neatly through the verses. The South Yorkshire artist has truely reinvented himself, arguably, producing his greatest work yet.
Drew himself explains, “With La Revanche I went deep down the rabbit hole of dark, pseudo-gothic rock. Probably fitting given the song’s themes are ones of emancipation and revenge. I found my love of 90’s alternative rock soundtracks coming out in the orchestration; there are a few nods to The Crow, 12 Monkeys and even Elfman’s Batman in there. The song signals a turning point for me too in my records – it’s the first single I’ve released with my full live band, it brought a new level of energy and freshness to the work.”
Drew has already been crowned by the BBC across Wales, Ulster, and London, as well as on BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6, and by notable press throughout the UK and the US. ‘La Revanche’ does not merely represent a comeback, but the reclaiming of rock into the mainstream, with the result being pure cinema.
