VICKISARGE & Friends Launch Five New Collaborations

Can buttons become regal earrings? How can 3D printing technology be used to create wearable art? And most importantly, what’s the most stylish way to gag someone? The British queen of costume jewellery since 1985, VICKISARGE has the answer to all these burning questions – and more. With bubbly flowing, jewels sparkling, and guests chattering excitedly at the brand’s Kensington flagship, VICKISARGE & Friends recently launched five capsule collections created in collaboration with a diverse set of creative trailblazers.

Alexis Saint Pete brings sexy back

Alexis Saint Pete, the first Polish drag queen to feature on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, is one of many members of the drag community with whom VICKISARGE have a close relationship. Always a trendsetter, for her collection Alexis wanted to create pieces, which were unlike anything done by VICKISARGE before. She certainly succeeded.

Amongst sharp-edged silver chokers, earrings featuring her initial ‘A’, and sleek nail rings proudly sat an impressive one-of-a-kind gag featuring a golfball-sized pearl. “If you’re going to gag, why not gag in style?” quipped Saint Pete. Quoting her love of Mugler and futuristic shapes as major influences on the designs, Alexis invites us all to tap into our inner diva and serve gag-worthy looks.

HOOD London – the fab hatters

For designer duo Gabrielle Djanogly and Adele Mildred aka HOOD London, who have been designing statement accessories since 2019, headbands were the starting point for their collaboration. “It’s such a simple way to elevate your look by adding sparkle […] It’s an essential piece of jewellery, to decorate [yourself] from the top down,” explained the designers.

The HOOD London x VICKISARGE capsule collection also featured a range of hats, which Djanogly and Mildred wanted to be practical, “but with a touch of glamour”. With colder days approaching, their bold berets offer a perfect finishing touch for an everyday outfit, while the dazzling headbands – which can be customised upon request to match the wearer’s hair colour – are bound to make one’s appearance during the festive season a memorable one.

Futuristic couturier Karina Bond

Up-and-coming designer Karina Bond described her mini collection simply as “a labour of love”. The pieces, which ranged from edgy spiked cuffs to sensual crystal-encrusted faux-piercing pasties, could have already been spotted during her London Fashion Week catwalk show ‘Midnight Sun’ prior to the capsule launch. Showcasing her signature 3D printed techniques, Bond combined nature inspired organic shapes such as sea urchins, anemones, and corals, with cutting edge technology. In addition to original pieces inspired by her SS26 collection, Bond transformed some VICKISARGE staples, such as the Bee range or the Shooting Star Earrings, reinventing them with textiles and 3D printed embellishments. Karina Bond x VICKISARGE seamlessly fused VICKISARGE’s trademark theatricality with Bond’s futuristic design aesthetic, a perfect choice for those hoping to make a sartorial statement.

Zero waste waist adornment by Marko Matysik

The multihyphenate creative Marko Matysik has spent the past few decades working as a designer, art director, stylist, and editor within the fashion industry. With past clients including the likes of Daphne Guinness, Madonna, and Karl Lagerfeld, Matysik’s work is characterised by an appreciation of avant-garde artistry and sustainable practices.

For his collaboration with VICKISARGE, Matysik turned his well trained eye to the brand’s archives, which combined with his passion for upcycling, has yielded a limited edition offering of finely crafted suede and silk belts subtly embellished with vintage crystals and antique buckles.

From corner shop to crown jewel with Zack Pinsent

“Something which I think we’ve lost is the sheer exuberance that can come from a jewel that can adorn a gentleman’s jacket such as a button,” revealed Zack Pinsent, ultra-stylish historical costumier and tailor. “Buttons can make or break an outfit.”

With that in mind, Pinsent created a collection inspired by the anything-but-humble fastening. The result was a selection of elegant rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks and pins featuring sparkling buttons, as well as buttons themselves, ready to zhuzh up any outfit. Pinsent offered some truly showstopping pieces, such as a statement necklace dripping in pearls and crystals – “If Sofia Coppola was going to do ‘Marie Antoinette’ now, that might pop up on an extra,” hoped Pinsent, sotto voce – or a tiara mimicking the Brighton Royal Pavillion’s serpentine curves. Steeped in historical references and exuding regal sophistication, the collection is an elixir for those seeking to romanticise the ordinary. “When things are dark, the thing that sparkles is always best,” observed Pinsent. Truer words were never spoken.
