A Music Masterclass with DYLAN

Singer-songwriter DYLAN has been making waves with her 70’s rock influenced take on pop-rock. But skip back to before she landed a world tour with Ed Sheeran, or collaborated with some of the most respected producers and artists in music such as Bastille – she was a student at London College of Contemporary Music’s summer school.

After navigating the whirlwind music industry, racking up many wins and a fair share of losses, DYLAN returned to LCCM to hold a masterclass, sharing gems of wisdom with aspiring young musicians. From signing with a major label to being dropped and operating as an independent artist back to signing to another major label – DYLAN passed on her industry knowledge for emerging artists to help them on their own journeys.

Packing a punch in an hour long class at The Music Box, DYLAN shared her story with us, played us a couple of unreleased demos, and gave us an intimate piano performance with selected tracks from debut mixtape ‘The Greatest Thing I’ll Never Learn‘. Answering questions from students and giving them a peek into her writing process, DYLAN shares “when it comes to songwriting, don’t force it, let it happen naturally.” Tackling the topic of what to do as an artist when you feel as though you’re unable to be your authentic self, she says valuable advice “make sure to build a solid brand before you go to a major label.“
