London-based singer-songwriter Liya Shapiro opens the door to a deeply personal chapter of her life, with her debut EP, Another Woman, documenting the aftermath of unrequited love with striking honesty. The result is a collection that feels raw and painfully real, capturing the strange ways old emotions can linger long after a relationship, or the possibility of one, has ended.
The record offers a cinematic sensibility, drawing on chamber arrangements, orchestral textures and understated rock influences to create something intimate yet expansive. The title track stands as the emotional centre of the EP, pairing sweeping instrumentation with unflinchingly direct songwriting, while “Night Thoughts” retreats into a more introspective space, lingering in those restless hours when memories become impossible to ignore. Elsewhere, “Hold Me Tight” offers one of the EP’s most compelling moments. Built from lyrics written years apart, the song highlights the distance between past and present, allowing two versions of Shapiro to coexist within the same piece.
Over the five-track EP, Another Woman evolves into something far greater than a collection of songs about lost love.
