Bristol-born DJ and producer Notion has steadily carved out a reputation as one of the most distinctive voices in the UK’s new wave of electronic music.
Known for his creativity fusing emotional depth with the punch of bass, garage and breaks – he’s become an artist who can move a dancefloor without ever sacrificing feeling. His career reached a turning point with “The Days” showcasing the breadth of his sound and the personal weight behind it. All of that came to a head at his headline show at Outernet, where his artistic identity felt fully realised in real time.
Stepping in at around 1am, Notion delivered a masterfully curated set over the next few hours. He’s known for blending emotional depth with club-ready bangers, and the night was no different. The early part of the set leaned more melodic and introspective – perhaps shimmering pads, rolling basslines, and tasteful vocal chops with the exception of “TENTEN” featuring Unknown T blasting within ten minutes of his set.
As the night progressed, the energy stripped down to something more intense: driving rhythms and select high-impact drops that kept the crowd locked in – we’re talking Sammy Virji, Champion, Interplanetary Criminal…you know how it goes.
Alternating between euphoric peaks and garage breaks, recently Grammy-nominated “The Days” plays at the perfect moment, the song everybody had been waiting for to conclude the night.
But before that, he fired off his latest single “WAITING” featuring Willow Kayne – a perfect final hit of emotion and energy. The crowd sang the hook back to him, phones in the air, the whole room glowing under Outernet’s massive screens. It felt like a victory lap: a nod to where he’s come from and a flex of where he’s heading next.
