Last week, Global DJ and producer Sherelle hosted an exclusive fundraiser to celebrate her BEAUTIFUL label and platform, hosted at Peckham’s no-frills underground venue, The Carpet Shop. Supported by Relentless, the evening showcased performances from artists who embody BEAUTIFUL’s ethos and redefine the boundaries of Black electronic music: Emerald, George Riley, Lil C, Loraine James, and Mr Redley.
BEAUTIFUL is an initiative dedicated to championing the intersection of Black and queer culture while empowering disruptive, community-driven music scenes across Europe. It fosters creative freedom by supporting emerging artists through workshops, equipment access, and events, alongside releasing its own music. Partnering under Relentless’ ‘Freeform’ banner – set up to support subcultural scenes and champion creative freedom – the event will showcase the BEAUTIFUL’s own community of Black and LGBTQI+ talent. The platform has also partnered with organisations like AIAIAI to open studio spaces and launch educational programs.
