“I wanted to get out of town for a bit and shoot some photos, so I reached out to a friend in New York. She put me onto Wheels of NYC — a growing community of car enthusiasts who host regular meets and events around car culture.
I went to their fall meet at a warehouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, mainly hoping to take portraits of people with their cars. The place was full of energy — around 150 cars, DJs, Caribbean food, and a really welcoming crowd. If you’re ever in the city and looking for something different to do, I’d definitely recommend checking them out.
One of the highlights was meeting Anthony, a Brooklyn native with a black Buick Grand National. I don’t actually know much about cars — I’ve never even owned one — but we ended up talking about music and sports, and like most people there, he was more than happy to be photographed.”
