Drawing from the underlying structures of fairytales, including their quiet warnings, thresholds and moments of transition, Grimm Reinterpreted centres on a state of instability where the familiar begins to shift into something less certain. Rather than retelling a specific narrative, the work isolates the atmosphere within these stories, focusing on the moment of crossing into a space that operates differently, where logic becomes ambiguous and meaning is no longer fixed.
Grimm Reinterpreted explores how these ideas can be translated into contemporary fashion imagery through the construction of controlled environments that subtly resist the body. Objects, space and proportion are used not as literal references, but as tools to suggest tension. This creates a visual language where nothing is overtly wrong, yet nothing fully settles, allowing the imagery to sit between recognition and disruption.
In this sense, the editorial is less concerned with narrative resolution and more with emotional and spatial experience. It reflects an interest in fashion image-making as a form of storytelling that moves beyond representation, positioning the image as something to be interpreted over time. By drawing on the ambiguity and unease embedded within fairytales, the project aims to create a body of work that feels both familiar and estranged, inviting the viewer into a world that is composed, but never entirely secure.
