The Reading Festival 2024 was a weekend to remember. Under the warm August sun, thousands of festival-goers gathered to enjoy a vibrant lineup of artists, all set against a backdrop of yellow and red flags and an electric atmosphere.Â
Friday:
Saturday: A Day of Diverse Sounds
Saturday kicked off with an eclectic mix of performances that showcased the diversity of today’s music scene. The day was warm, the perfect festival weather, and the excitement was palpable as the crowds streamed in, many dressed in bright colors and festival gear, while others chose to embrace the heat by wearing fashionable shorts and vests.
Amongst the artist to bless the main stage was The Last Dinner Party, Fontaines D.C, Courting, Lana Del Ray & Zinovinci and many more…
One artist to note who had a huge pull on the crowd was multi-Brit award winner Raye, who showed the crowd exactly how to put on a perfect performance and the crowd ate it up as they sang every song back to her word for word. The vocal range on this talented singer is of a unique standard that has to be witnessed in real life to fully believe it.
Another standout performance in total contrast to the one previously mentioned was Fred Again. Over the past 5 years he’s grown greatly in popularity, witnessing it live it’s clear to see why, his live playing of the instruments to a unique blend of sounds (that has solely been linked to as a ‘Fred Again sound’) amongst his infectious personality is what brought this amazing talent to the top of the ranks as the nights headliner.
On the smaller stages some other great acts to mention were those of of Sonny Fodera, Skrapz, Wunderhorse, Aziya and Jayahadadream.Â
Sunday: A Day of High-Energy Performances
Sunday was just as exhilarating, if not more so. The sun was shining once again, and the festival grounds were buzzing with anticipation. The day’s lineup promised a range of experiences, and it certainly delivered.
Sunday’s line up of the main stage consisted of Corella, Crawlers, Pendulum, 21 Savage and The Luka State and many more…
I started my day with Alfie Templeman at the BBC Radio 1 stage and I was instantly filled with joy, Alfie’s sound of beach-like indie pop has such a youthful energy and were the perfect way to shake off any lingering sleepiness. His set was a joyful celebration of being young and the crowd responded in kind, dancing and singing along to every song.
As the day progressed, Bru-C took the stage, and the energy levels skyrocketed. His performance was nothing short of explosive, with the crowd dancing full throttle to his infectious Drum & Bass set. It was a party from start to finish, and the atmosphere was electric.
Renee Rapp followed, bringing a different vibe with her soulful and powerful performance. Her voice was captivating, drawing the audience into every word she sang. There was a sense of connection in the air, as if her music was speaking directly to each person in the crowd.
The weekend culminated with a performance by the legendary Liam Gallagher. To say he gave a killer performance would be an understatement. Liam’s iconic voice and swagger were on full display, and the crowd was in the palm of his hand from the first note to the last. It was a perfect end to a perfect weekend, with thousands of voices singing along to every anthem.
On the smaller stages some other great acts to mention were those of Rachel Chinouriri, Prido, Baebadoobee, Artemas and Hak Baker.
In conclusion Reading festival was something that’ll be talked about for weeks to come from the festival gooers in attendance, it’ll be sure to make those that missed this epic weekend not make the same mistake next year.
