Dutch producer and vocalist Coloray is back with his empowering new single ‘Try Again’. Best known for his renowned back catalogue of dance-led tracks, the artist has consistently stood out in the electronic scene due to his love for songwriting and storytelling. Now we see Coloray delve into new sonic territory, where the nostalgic synth-pop sounds are given an energetic twist. It’s a style that’s intoxicating in its design and fills the listener with an unrelenting urge to move. Such energy was inspired by the artists live show, and when he entered the studio he was keen to translate the raucous atmosphere he generates on stage within his productions.
However, the euphoric production style is juxtaposed by the concept behind ‘Try Again’. Influenced by the artist’s journey dealing with his mental health, the track is a deeply introspective tale about overcoming self-doubt, and quelling those self-deprecating thoughts that plague so many of us. Keen to connect with his listeners on a personal level, Coloray was transparent about his own struggles and demons and in so doing created a beacon of positivity out of a dark time. The artist’s message is one of empowerment, and for those listening to trust in themselves, the journey they’re on and to never give up.
2023 is already lining up to be a big year for Coloray with plenty more to come. In February he released the politically charged single ‘Branded Content’ which spoke out about big tech companies and the power social media has on our lives. He also debuted his mind-bending A/V live show at DGTL Amsterdam in April which took thousands of ravers on a psychedelic trip. Whilst ‘Try Again’ lands fresh off the back of the collaborative track ‘Final Dance’ alongside Terr which just released on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy imprint. Riding a wave of momentum, with each release Coloray proves himself to be a fearless songwriter with an innate ability to transmit the emotional highs and lows that come with being a touring artist.
