Alt-pop singer songwriter Jack Panther’s new single ‘Changes’ is the perfect tune to usher in Autumn and say a nostalgic goodbye to summer.
Dropping today, ‘Changes’ was inspired by Panther’s move from his native Auckland to London and his decision to embrace the change along with the uncertainty and fear that can come with making big changes, a feeling we can all relate to.
This song marks an entirely new sound, a new era separate from Jack Panther’s previous work, co-written and co-produced with Will McGillivray and Tarn PK, the track uses both acoustic guitar and fuzzy electric guitar to drive home powerful lyrics such as ‘I’ve been feeling aimless all my life’ to take us on a ride and show us a side of himself his previous music has yet to show in depth.
‘Changes’ and a string of singles yet to be released will be his first since his 2022 single ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ which has racked up over 100K streams to date and his 2023 single ‘Theo’ with Rolling Stone Australia naming it ‘the song you need to know’.
Jack Panther’s 2020 debut EP ‘this dream i had’ promptly established a following with his own personal blend of queer pop and indie influences and fresh takes on love and heartbreak, this garnered attention and praise from the likes of ‘Rolling Stone Australia’ and ‘Remix Magazine’. After gaining a devoted following, Panther went on to release his six track EP ‘why don’t you come on over?’ in 2022 which saw him sell out a homecoming show in Auckland and took him on a three-stop tour in New Zealand.
Along with the release of this banger, Jack Panther has also treated us to a music video filmed in part on the Seven Sisters Cliffs in Eastbourne at sunset by upcoming director Shyam Patel and shot and edited by Sam Taylor Edwards who has previously worked with the likes of Calvin Harris and Caroline Polachek. Using this backdrop, Panther gives us a beautiful and dramatic visual to accompany the powerful production and lyricism Jack Panther provides.
Changes and the accompanying music video drops today.
