Sungaze Share The Introspective ‘Lost My Head’

Made up of Ian Hilvert and Ivory Snow, North-American duo Sungaze have released their latest single, ‘Lost My Head,’ a track that delves deep into the themes of anger, dissociation, and introspection.

Hilvert describes ‘Lost My Head’ as a reflection of his struggles with daydreaming and anger, using self-awareness to shape the lyrics and sounds. Snow, who contributed to the song’s bridge, adds a layer of subtle advice, emphasising the transient nature of feelings. She notes how easy it is to fall into the trap of “feeling permanence,” where a good or bad day feels like it will last forever. The song is anchored by a steady drumbeat, with shimmering tones and reverberating guitarsm, creating an ethereal atmosphere that is topped off with vocals filled with emotion, crying out from a place of turmoil.

Sungaze’s music often traverses contrasting emotions and genres, from grunge-laden tracks to dreamy pop anthems. Joined by a talented live band, including Snow’s sister Angela Colvin, they continue to explore the complexities of the human experience with each release, making their music both deeply personal and highly relatable.
