A man of many talents, Joshua Luke Smith, a poet, rapper, and producer, premieres the visuals for his latest single ‘Defiant Ones’ taken from his debut album ‘The Void.’
Born in London, raised in Pakistan, Smith uses poetic references and metaphorical writing to navigate through grief and inspires listeners to find peace and strength in the void.
Mastering the art of spoken word, Smith’s latest single ‘Defiant Ones’ narrates the emptiness left by personal loss in the style of upbeat confessional rap.
Joshua Luke Smith shares insight into ‘Defiant Ones’ and the reason behind having a dancer in the music video: “Defiant Ones is for the person who’s been told it’s all over, it’s too late, and the only thing left to do is give up and submit to the dissatisfaction and disappointment. I’ve learnt it’s true that the night is darkest before dawn, and those that live to see the rising sun of restoration and reconciliation are those, who in defiance of the despair that surrounds them, choose ‘to dance through fire and the smoke bringing beauty to the struggle like a rose.'”
