LIZA KEANE is the eponymous London-based co-ed label, setting out a contemporary vision of subversive apparel. Founded in 2022, the brand is a current recipient of the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN talent initiative.
Rooted in Keane’s multidisciplinary art practice, her sculpturally constructed designs explore form and psyche, manipulated fabric echoing the natural contours of the body and uncharted depths of the mind. Simmering beneath the world Keane has moulded sits a dark cinematic tension, shaped by the designer’s passion for storytelling, performance and sculpture, and an instinctive nocturnal sensibility that permeates each collection.
Through her designs, Keane gives form to the contradictions of embodiment; seduction, fragility and strength held in a state of tension. Drawing from lived experience and the writings of philosophers including Georges Bataille and Carl Jung, each collection emerges as a visceral snapshot of the designer’s inner world, developing into work that is at once spontaneous, joyful and violent.
Innovation and sustainability are intrinsic to the label’s practice, with luxury garments produced exclusively from upcycled and deadstock materials, alongside entirely natural-fibre fabrics. Having garnered a cult following among industry insiders, LIZA KEANE is stocked internationally by retailers including H Lorenzo, SSENSE and OPENER, with fans of the brand including artists Ye West, FKA Twigs and Julia Fox.
With each collection, LIZA KEANE brings the unseen into the physical world, giving shape to the opposing forces within the self, where instinct, desire and vulnerability collide and coexist.
