“Brittle is inspired by the work of Soviet Estonian director Harry Egipt, who was known for his avant-garde, surrealist adverts. This editorial looks at the absurdity of modern advertisement and consumerism.
Constant messaging urging people to be purchasing more and more. The advertising, selling and marketing methods have come a long way since Soviet Estonia, with telemarketers, social media influencers and cold callers.
The editorial illustrates two models that trying to get your attention with unusual poses, their beauty and jester-like clothing as they are surrounded by a sea of trinkets. Once the urge for consuming is reaching its peak, the models are draped in Marie Antoinette inspired garments, but are now disinterested by belonging. We see the other side of consumerism, the boredom it brings.” – Yana Kasa
