Who says a restaurant has to call it a night once dinner service is over? This October, Soho’s Indo-Chinese restaurant Tangra is turning up the volume with Hakka House, a new monthly late-night DJ series bringing underground sounds, cocktails and plenty of good food to Frith Street.
Curated by Rohan Rakhit of Daytimers, the series will see a rotating line-up of DJs take over Tangra for three hours of music, with a late-night food menu, merch giveaways and welcome cocktails thrown into the mix. Combining Indo-Chinese flavours with South Asian sounds, Hakka House is bringing something a little different to Soho’s nightlife.
The series kicks off on Thursday 29 October, with DJ Kizzi taking centre stage. Having previously played Glastonbury, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and All Points East, Kizzi is no stranger to getting a crowd moving. Sarpila Sounds will be warming things up from 10pm, setting the tone for a night that promises festival-sized energy in a much more intimate setting.
India’s best-selling vodka brand, Magic Moments, is also getting involved, providing welcome cocktails for guests on arrival. And with Tangra’s kitchen serving food throughout the night, there’s little reason to choose between dinner and dancing.
With a fresh line-up each month, Hakka House looks set to become an exciting addition to London’s late-night scene, celebrating the intersection of food, music and South Asian culture. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend your Thursday night, Hakka House at Tangra might be the place to be.
