Field Maneuvers may be one of the UK’s most highly-anticipated, vaguely off-the-beaten-path festivals in the British countryside. After a couple of tubes and a coach out to the rural fields of Norfolk, a secret coordinate location only known to ticket holders awaits. The first night was a muddy, rain-soaked treat, energies remained high despite the onslaught of unsavory weather (the tented stages helped). There’s one thing for sure about British festival goers, the show must damn well go on! And it certainly did.
This year’s edition seemingly surpassed all previous’ expectations with notable installations and pop-up spaces hosted by inimitable collectives like Uhaul Dyke Rescue. Not to mention, Trackie McLeod’s work in the Packet Inn, featuring a new function room. This was clearly a favourite amongst the heaviest of the ravers in attendance, and proved to be a go-to spot for queer joy, dance, and community throughout the duration of the weekend.

Not only was the music top notch with DJ sets from some of the most notable industry heavyweights across London, the festival was incredibly international. Some of the most standout sets included Low End Dreams which was curated by the likes of drysu, bringing bass, 140, and jungle together in a genre-bending sequence that would leave memories buzzing as loud as the ringing in attendees’ ears. That is of course unless they packed earplugs with the rest of their camping essentials.

Energies were high, vibrations were open, and festival outfits were nothing short of stellar. One of the standalone features of Field Maneuvers is the way that every walk of life is not only welcome, but embraced. This is clear in the festival arrangement, the way the grounds are organized, accessibility being a focus. The project ensures that a variety of amenities are on offer, as a means of accommodating as many people as possible. The lineup cements this sentiment. The curation of performances, DJs, takeovers, and installations really nails this intentionality home.
2026 was the 13th year of Field Maneuvers and it seems this initiative is by no means settling down anytime soon. Prospective guests can already sign up for ticket access for the 27’ edition on the website. This festival is clearly built upon something bigger than a mere weekend getaway, its cult following solidifies that. Attendees are not only after three days of fleeting fun, they are committed to the ethos of this temporary world. And while it may go too fast every time, FM fans will surely keep the experience alive until next year, even if by way of daydreaming about what’s next to come.
