Romantic rebels mingled with vibrant vampires at Mark Fast, as vivid colours such as fuchsia, royal blue and chartreuse commanded attention against gothic blacks. For the designer’s latest show the audience was swept away for a night out with an array of neon noir femme fatales ready to chew you up and spit you out right onto the rain soaked curb.

Chain details incorporated into bodycon dresses created using Fast’s signature weaving techniques gave a rebellious edge to the flirty pintuck ruffles. Dramatic shapes with cinched waists and sweeping skirts reminiscent of period costumes were juxtaposed against 80s power dressing staples such as tailored coats and blazers, paired with seductively sheer skirts and touchably textured long pile shag accents. Parachute fabric was employed for the construction of structured tracksuit inspired full skirts, while velour, velvet and silk introduced an alluring shine to simpler looks. A further nod to the era of the New Romantics was seen in drop waist silhouettes and oversized costume jewellery from Vicki Sarge, layered luxuriously over leather gloves.
The best part of Mark Fast’s vision for this autumn? The seductively stylish vampires conjured up by the designer were both aspirational and achievable. In addition to corseted party dresses, the collection featured a range of extremely wearable staples styled with high-shine leather boots and a hint of tights for the ultimate kind-of-woman-that-will-actually-just-kill-me look. Vampy smokey eyes and ready-for-ravishing red lips by makeup artist Sharon Dowsett skilfully straddled the line between glamorous and lustful, while artistically windswept glossy hair by Neil Moodie gave an air of an eventful evening on the town. The Mark Fast woman is a force to be reckoned with – even when she’s in her surprisingly stylish hoodie the morning after.
