Australian alt-pop mastermind Tim Ayre steps into the limelight after a miniature hiatus with his seraphic new project, the ‘Modern Life’ EP.
Having teased the release during the latter half of 2020 with the oneiric ‘California Dreamin’, Tim has since been unveiling the EP piece by piece over the course of the last few months, with title track ‘Modern Life’ acting as the grand finale.
‘Modern Life’ portrays a dejected outlook on modern life, disguised by an eccentric and buoyant soundscape. Track ’So Long’ blends upbeat tempos with crestfallen lyrics, whilst ‘Miami Drive’ and ‘Mexican Holiday’ whizz you off to tropical paradises where sunny guitar and distorted atmospheres reign supreme.
Tim Ayre dissects the EPs background: “I feel like the intention to write music that reminded me of more positive times and this idea of traveling the world has come through. Despite the fact we’re still in this weird ongoing uncertainty I hope the record can give people a feeling of positivity. I feel like if you sit by the window and play it start to finish you can almost daydream like you went on a holiday.”
Modern Life’s accompanied video narrates Tim Ayre in true form beside a trusted piano, whilst images of beachside bliss shoot up on screen, best representing the airy and vacation feel of the track.
As heatwaves make themselves known through these next few months, Tim Ayre’s offering with ‘Modern Life’ is one to carry you through the scorching summer period.
‘Modern Life’ is out now via Kisuné Musique.
